A Must Have App For Every College Student
Coping with university assignment can be very TOUGH
(tell me if I'm wrong), but having the right tools will ease the stress. Below is a list of apps I handpicked myself
1. iTunes University
Apple's iTunes University offers course material from universities and colleges in the form of text, audio and video. This application is however strictly available for iOS.
2. iStudiez Lite
iStudiez allows you to plan your semester class timetable and set alarms for each class. The iStudiez Lite version enables you to manage one semester of up to five courses and 15 classes/exams per course, 15 assignments, five instructors and two holiday period.
3. Coursera
Coursera.org is an online education website that offers course material and MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). Content can be accessed on the website or mobile app. This app allows you to prepare for a specific class well in advance.
4. Dragon Dictation
Dragon Dictation is an app which digitally converts audio and is transferable to other apps. The app works with voice recognition which means that while you talk, it collects and saves your audio sound and transfers it which you can paste into other apps or send via email. Dragon Dictation is only available for iOS.
5. Brainscape - Smart Flashcards
Brainscape allows you to create flashcards with the Brainscape - Smart Flashcards app. Flashcard sets can be downloaded or custom-made. This app is believed to be effective based on decades of cognitive science research.
6. MyScript Smart Note
This app allows you to write down notes in lectures or while in the classroom. This app is generally suited for students who prefer to write down notes as opposed to typing. It offers a handwriting function which captures your notes in your own handwriting.
7. XMind
XMind is a free mind map app. It is suited for students or who prefer the "radial thinking" paradigm of mind mapping. This app is however not available on mobile phones, as it only runs on desktop or laptops - Windows, Mac, Linux.
8. Evernote and Penultimate
Evernote allows you to take notes, with a feature that allows you to bookmark, compose, clip and more. Penultimate allows you to write notes, sketch and mark up images.
9. Todoist
Todoist allows you to track your to do tasks, assignments and more. It also allows you to bookmark and set reminders. Todoist has Mac and Windows desktop versions, Chrome and Firefox browser plugins, and plugins for Outlook, Gmail, Thunderbird and Postbox email clients.
10. Quizlet
Quizlet is a general study tool which has flash card study for a number of high school and college subjects. Quizlet allows you to use images and audio in your flash card sets. This app also allows you reuse your content or anyone's shared content.
